Too many screens are a sign of discontent

Premise: I am intending a brief offline sabbatical. More specifically, there is about a week’s time in which, beyond basic tasks for work, I have no obligations that tie me to the digital realm.

The last time I had a chance to do this was over a year and a half ago. Before our little part of the world got turned on its head twice in as many months, and recurring regularly thereafter. Now that I think on it, my last real excursion ‘into the desert’ happened around the time I started writing here. No point wondering about this restlessness after all, eh?

It’s past time. For someone who spends a major chunk of of their workday in front of a computer screen, you know it’s bad when, presented with a gasp of free time, you reach for another screen to be absorbed into. No.

What does **not** go with you into the (metaphorical) desert?
